Greg Hagen
Brazil, IN
Greg Hagen is an American realist painter whose artistic career spans more than five decades. Showing exceptional talent from an early age, he began painting at fourteen and was already selling artwork to collectors while still a high school senior. During this time he received the National Scholastic Art Awards Gold Medal, the highest national honor for high school art students, which led to scholarship offers and further study at the Dayton Art Institute and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. While still a teenager, his work was exhibited in Hallmark galleries in New York City, an uncommon distinction for such a young artist.

Hagen has developed a distinctive style known for its realist landscapes and architectural scenes. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, he explores the expressive possibilities of realism through carefully observed landscapes, cityscapes, and everyday scenes. His paintings are distinguished by their sensitivity to light, atmosphere, and the quiet character of place.
Over a 25-year period of outdoor art shows he built a strong national following, and today his paintings are held in private and corporate collections across the United States and in at least fifteen countries. His work has been exhibited in cities including Scranton, Cincinnati, and Dayton, as well as at the J. B. Speed Museum in Louisville.
In addition to his studio practice, Hagen has worked as a professional commercial illustrator since 1969 and has held positions in design and art direction, continuing a multi-generational artistic tradition rooted in his Polish heritage.
