Artist Statement
In my work I explore and question the act of perception itself. Using the subtle medium of photogravure, I seek to illuminate what is often overlooked in the quiet interplay of form, light, and shadow. My prints invite a reconsideration of perspective, engaging the viewer in an active dialogue with the work while revealing the harmony that emerges from the interaction of shape, tone, and texture. Through this synergy, the prints reflect on life’s inherent contrasts and ask the viewer to slow down, to look closely, and to find meaning in the quiet intervals of perception.

Chloe's Newest Body of Work in the Gallery: What It Takes to Make a Flower Grow
Working in the subtle and historically rich medium of photogravure, Chloe Simma-Martin explores the intimate parallels between the lives of flowers and the experience of love in her series What it Takes to Make a Flower Grow. Her quiet, closely scaled prints reward close looking, inviting viewers into a moment of reflection on devotion, patience, and care. An emerging artist with an MFA in Printmaking, Simma-Martin brings remarkable technical refinement and sensitivity to the medium, building nuanced tones and delicate detail that unfold slowly over time. These intimate works offer collectors the rare opportunity to live with prints that are both technically sophisticated and emotionally resonant - small meditations on the beauty and vulnerability required for growth.

The series includes 13 photogravure polymer prints (12 vertical display, 1 horizontal). Each custom-framed piece is 11 x 8.5, respectively 8.5 x 11 inches.
